no smell or taste. Looks great. Works great.
I was concerned by the earlier reviews discussing a strange taste and plastic odor of water boiled in this kettle, but I never experienced anything other than colorless, odorless water. Other people might just have bad water. America is full of gross water. I live in San Diego, I have to use a potassium water softener with a built-in carbon filter and a reverse osmosis system. This might be the reason for why I don't get a strange taste.
I highly recommend this product.

Capresso Tea Pot
I like the German glass bowl. At least I hope it's German
I dislike the fact that it is made or assembled in China. Try as I did, I could not find a domestic tea pot.
There is a slight odor from the pot as others have described. Doesn't seem to bother the flavor as far as I can tell.
Amazon shipped it pretty fast compared to other instances, but came well packed.
Overall pretty nice, quick boil times and the automatic stop on boil feature is fantastic. Also the fact that the pot comes off the base with no cords attached is a super feature.

Beautiful accessory
I bought this Capresso glass water kettle immediately after I saw the one my stepdaughter has -- it's a work of art. Everything about it is pleasing: it boils water quickly, it is compact, and it is worthy of being showcased with its clear body, chrome and black fittings, and blue on light. I'm thrilled with this purchase. And I almost forgot to add, it arrived practically before I'd turned the computer off -- not literally of course, but so quickly I couldn't believe it, probably the following day!
