If you think plastic fittings are a good idea...
If you think plastic fittings are a good idea around expensive cabinetry and hardwood floors, this is a the product for you. This model now has two "quick-connect" plastic fittings. My last ISE tank had one, the "Y" fitting connecting the copper pipes to the filter line. It failed after 3 years and soaked the cabinets and hardwood floors to the point of serious damage. Initially I thought I would just replace the "Y" connector, but then I realized that the tank itself showed obvious corrosion. I was determined to buy a different brand, but I was unable to locate a model that would work with the expensive Hot/Cold chrome dispenser/filter unit, so I held my nose and bought this model. It leaked immediately from the now plastic "Snap-Connect Fitting"" which is on the tube carrying the hot water to the dispenser. Yes, believe it or not, the connector on the tubing that carries 190° water is a plastic "Quick-Connect"! And when you call ISE, you'll discover their parts are available only through them. They will get them to you in 7-10 days, and you cannot expedite this by agreeing to pay the shipping costs yourself! If you buy this unit, protect your cabinetry and floors with a water alarm or bucket! I wish I had.

doesn't work with previous faucets
I had good luck with the previous version of this product- it lasted for 9 years before rusting out and leaking. This unit was the only one I saw that was sold with just the tank, and since my faucet works fine, I did not want to buy a new one. I purchased this one, and called a plumber to install it-- of course when he arrived, he said that will not work with the faucet because the new ones are all plastic, and the old ones were metal -- I assumed there would be a way to connect them. Since I had the plumber "on the clock" on just had him go get a new faucet and it was about $400 for just the least expensive faucet in basic chrome!! Not installed. Of course the good folks at Amazon sell it for around $250 but even Home Depot sells it for $375. Gotta love Amazon... I just wish I had realized the part about the faucet before wasting all the money.
On the water filter, I already had an everpure filtering system in place, so I skipped the one that comes with the water heater-- looks like that is a good thing as they charge a crazy amount for the replacement filter for the one that comes with this. Looks like they like to get you in the door with the water heater, and then take ya down with the faucet and finish you off with the water filter replacement. Just based on the heater, it looks fine.
