Customer reviews for 'DVD Aquarium Widescreen ( Shot in HD )'

Not Bueno

I thought I was getting a high def aquarium to play as occasional background on my awesome new high def tv. Not true. Very fuzzy, muddy images. A real disappointment.

Enjoy your Aquarium

The four different aquarium setting can be selected individually or played in non-stop sequence - an hour or so of each setting at a time. The interiors and fish are fantastic in coulour and pretty good in sharpness, but don't expect anything resembling HD; even if the advertisement says "shot in HD", the DVD disk has been recorded with conventional TV format. The PAL version I have purchased, seem to have been transferred from the North American NTSC-format, resulting in some lack in definition and aso in overly saturation of colour, especially red and yellow. However, even close up on my 42" Panasonic Plasma screen, the fish and plants are rendered in sufficient definition to appear quite lifelike. There are three soundtracks to chose from: aquarium sound, ambient sound, and elevator music. All are adding great enjoiment to the viewing. Putting on the aquarium sound you will soon feel like being inside a real aquarium, wobbeling around together with the many different species of fish. The elevator music is much cooler than it sounds and can actually work as background music when you have the neighbors over for dinner. My wife had some girlfriend over and I had put on the continous show with the elevator music. Thinking it was too disturbing my wife started to turn it off, but received unanimous protests from the guests - they just loved it, and it did not disturb them. On the negative side I should mention: No bonus tracks! A "The Making of Aquarium" would have been just great. Also, the general science intersted audience would miss the lacking info on the "cast". What type of fish are shown? What do they do?

Looks fine

The DVD is fine. I don't think that it is really shot in HD but for the price it is just fine and I enjoyed my purchase.
