Best Cat Investment you will ever make
I agree with most of what has been posted, and only want to add the following; I hooked up my Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain to the same timer as this feeder, so the water is running for 15min after this food dispenser has refreshed the bowl. The idea is to encourage drinking when cats need it most; just after eating dry food. This approach saves electricity and water refilling from the water evaporation loss suffered by leaving the fountain on all the time. I had my own quality timer, so I purchased the CSF3, Bowl and chute cover (optional) directly from their web sight. Cut&Paste this link to see and hear this feeder in action -

Exactly what I have been looking for....
I've had this feeder for over 6 months and could not be any more happy with it. Yes, it is considerably more expensive than the other automatic feeders out there, but this one is worth its weight in gold. My chihuahua was always asking to be fed, and the poor little guy was getting so fat. I'm a med student and have very irregular hours, so I was looking for a feeder that could feed a few tablespoons of food several times a day. This one can do just that. You can adjust the machine to dispense as much (or little) food as your pet needs .. Now he's on a schedule and takes off running to his feeder when he hears it dispensing his food. He loves it and doesn't ask for food between meals anymore. When he goes to stay with my mom, I make sure the feeder goes with him. There's no way I could keep him at a healthy weight without it.

Excellent, but could use a few tweaks
The feeder works great and is really well thought out and has so far been cat proof. Despite a few minor complaints, I still feel it deserves 5 stars. Initial setup takes some time but allow a high degree of control. This kit includes a standard outlet wall timer, which not only makes programming very easy, but also means you will never lose your programming.
My only suggestions are to replace the top screw with a thumbscrew to make refilling easier, add some sort of clips to hold the bowl in place, and perhaps add some sort of retention mechanism to the barrel plug so it cannot be so easily unplugged.
