This is the one to get
There is of course, the Salton brand yogurt maker at less than half the price of this one. But someone wrote that it does not have a thermostatic control, even though they claim it does. The Waring company is known for making good stuff. So I got this one. According to my candy thermometer (none comes with it), this yogurt maker holds the temperature at a constant 115 F. I am not using their plastic containers for two reasons: (1) the BPA scare and (2) I like my yogurt in one big, easily-cleaned stainless steel pot. Naturally, I am making yogurt in a stainless steel pot, which holds 5 cups of milk, plus the other ingredients. Works just fine. As you know, your yogurt is only as good as your bacteria. I am using Stonyfield Farm brand organic plain yogurt as my starter culture, and the results are quite decent.

great product
I am really enjoying my yogurt maker. I have tried quite a few batches and so far find that the smaller jars make the thickest yogurt. It is really nice to have control over what is in the yogurt I make for my family, even my 6 month old is loving plain yogurt made with good, local milk. The yogurt maker is stylish so I don't mind leaving it out with other appliances on my shelf. I recommend this machine to those interested in homemade yogurt.

Makes great yogurt - Finally I get mine European style
We just bought this yogurt maker and did the first batch European style (uncooked milk). It turned out just grand and tastes wonderful. I brought my favorite yogurt from home (Landliebe) and we added it to organic milk. Worked out great for us.
