Description

Clownfish (Amphiprion percula) belong to the damselfish family and inhabit the tropical Indian and western Pacific Oceans. Many clownfish live among the stinging tentacles of anemones as obligate symbionts, meaning they cannot live their full lives without the anemone. Clownfish have a mucous covering which inhibits their host anemone from stinging them, and they defend their anemone against predators. Clownfish are small creatures that only grow to a length of about three inches. They feed on zooplankton, small creatures that swim or drift in the ocean, and plant algae. This is a pair of silver and enamel dangle earrings. Master artisans paint each article by hand using solutions containing colored granules of glass. Next, they fire the pieces in a kiln to produce an alluring richness of color. They measure approximately 2.0cm by 1.2cm.
